As we head into the holiday season, I wanted to reflect on fun happenings from the past few months!
Back in the middle of September, we traveled to Augusta for Charles's mom's birthday. We arrived Friday afternoon and were joined by Johnny, Neill, Jack, and Sherrie. After enjoying some cocktails, we headed to Beck's for a celebratory dinner and had some cake back at the house. We got moving quickly on Saturday morning as we prepped food and drinks to take out on Clarks Hill Lake. This was such a fun day hanging out with the high school besties like they were back in the 1970s. Afterward, we got back to the house and cooked a delicious meal of twice-baked potatoes, steak, and salad.
The following weekend included fun at the ATL Food and Wine Festival, Matt Douglas's 30th birthday at the lake, and the annual GA Club charity tournament, which started off with a fancy breakfast hosted by my dad as he broke in his new outdoor kitchen.
3. October included the Georgia vs. Kentucky game in Athens, a wedding in Ponte Vedra, a Haunted Hibachi Supper Club at Claire's, Harper Halloween, my annual work trip to Barnsley Gardens, a fun color-themed Supper Club with the Trinity girls, and a Tailgate Couples Shower! This was such a special day with all of our closest friends cheering on our favorite team.
We were also so grateful we got to have Darby there with us during this exciting time of starting our lives together. I'm so glad she got to see where we would be living as a married couple, scope out the best poop spots, and enjoy some five-star meals in our fancy kitchen. Sadly, we lost Darby to lung cancer and laid her to rest on 11/13/23. She left a big mark on all of our hearts and everyone she ever met and I am forever grateful for all of our memories with her... a few favorites being our 1:1 walks together when I first visited Charles (at the time I didn't know if it was love, but I sure did love his dog!), her being my legit shadow always following me from room to room, and throwing the tennis ball with her. Charles was the best dad to her and I can't wait to see him become a dad again in the future. <3
