Another holiday season has come and gone! Despite the circumstances, we were able to spend lots of time with friends and family. The festivities started off with a 14-day quarantine due to Covid exposure over Thanksgiving Break. The unexpected pause on life allowed us to get the house decorated, watch lots of Christmas movies, and spend quality time together. I also squeezed in a quick trip to Savannah to see Charles who was also having to quarantine.
I was in the clear just in time for Nikita and Trey's annual White Elephant Christmas Party. It was great visiting with lots of friends I have not seen in awhile. I brought glass coffee mugs with a hot chocolate kit as my gift and went home with a pack of Tropicalia and a shower drink holder.
After finally returning to school, we quickly found out we would begin our Christmas Break two days early due to positive Covid tests. As a result, we bumped up our annual team brunch and gift swap. I had Rebecca and Christina gifted me a pretty pair of gold earrings and some Pinot Noir. That week I also got to meet my brother's puppy, DJ, and grab dinner and drinks with an old friend!
The weekend before Christmas was packed with plans. Friday night I headed to Augusta for Charles' Tacky Christmas Party. We ate a yummy dinner with his family when I arrived and then headed to the party, which I won the prize for best outfit :) I drove back to Atlanta the next morning for brunch at Anis and massages at Sole Spa with Nikita, Kendel, Claire, and Shelby. Our fun continued into the afternoon as we grabbed a drink at Le Colonial and dinner at Storico Fresco. Shelby, Nikita, and I baked and decorated Christmas cookies and watched The Holiday Sunday night.
Before heading back to Athens I overnight babysat for an old student and was able to go to The Botanical Gardens to see the lights. Once I returned home, we did our Christmas cookies with the kids and had a birthday celebration for Sam at 706 that night.
A rainy Christmas Eve began with an amazing service at Athens Church. After running a few errands, we hung around and finished a few last minute tasks before the big day. That evening we headed to Sarah and Sam's for our annual soup dinner. She made beef stew and potato soup, which I accompanied with the yummiest Bibb lettuce salad. Mom, Dad, and I wrapped up the night by driving around the neighborhood to look at lights and listen to Christmas carols.
We had a slow Christmas morning as we awaited the other family members to arrive. Some gifts I received was a ski trip for spring break, a Northface puffer jacket, a new curling iron and straightener, and some coffee tables for my new place. Once the kids left, we started preparing our fancy Christmas dinner. This year on the menu was lobster tail, beef tenderloin, wedge salads, twice baked potatoes, crab cakes, and creamed spinach. The night was topped off with espresso martinis and Die Hard!
See you soon, 2021!
