Word for 2019

Instead of making endless resolutions for 2018, I focused on two words to guide my year. I tried to think of words that encompassed all that I wanted to accomplish. The words I chose were connect and maximize. See previous post on the reasoning behind those words here. This year I thought I would give it another go and decided on my new word of focus: INVEST. I plan to invest in my relationships, my faith, and myself to make 2019 a significant year.

Relationships. As we get older it is easy to get caught up with life and lose touch with close friends. While it takes a little more effort to reach out and make plans to grab a cup of coffee, go on a walk, or simply schedule a time for a phone call, I always feel so much better when I do. By investing in others, I can make new memories, develop connections, and provide support for those I love. Through investing in my current relationships, I am also looking forward to connecting with old and new ones as well. Whether it is reaching out to a friend I have lost touch with over the years or being open-minded to meeting someone new, we can always learn and grow from the people around us, and I value close friendships.

Faith. One of the goals on my life bucket list is to read the Bible. While that will most likely take (a lot) longer than a year to accomplish, I am looking forward to making some progress with this goal in 2019. Investing in my faith will hold me accountable with this goal. I am also choosing to"let go, and let God." Oftentimes I can get carried away with trying to control things on my own, whether it be a current situation or worrying about the future. I know that my journey called life is in God's hands, and I just need to enjoy the ride. Investing in my faith will bring me closer to God as I put trust in his plan.

Myself. Lastly, I plan to focus on self care this year. I have a tendency to say yes and overcommit to things people ask of me, and I need to learn that sometimes it is okay to say no and take time for myself. Whether it is saying no to babysitting in order to hang out with friends or letting a new responsibility at work go by in order to fully commit to the ones I already have, I know that it is okay to put myself first sometimes. I look forward to making more time to do the things I love this year- traveling, spa visits, reading more books, etc. Another way I plan to invest in myself is by making changes to feel more confident. At the start of the year, I decided to try something new and joined the Faster Way to Fast Loss program. This is holding me accountable to reach goals I have never set for myself before. I look forward to (hopefully) seeing results, but if not, I will feel a sense of accomplishment for completing the program.

So here we go, 2019, I can't wait to see what you have in store for me!
