Finally getting around to recap my trip to NYC over Winter Break in February. Never too late right?!
I travelled with my fellow teacher friend, Ellie, and we lucked out with the absolute best weather. Who would have guessed it would be 60 degrees in the middle of February?! We stayed at her sister's apartment, which was located were West Village, Chelsea, and Meat-Packing all meet.
We arrived early Saturday afternoon, and immediately headed to explore upon our arrival. We walked the High Line, roamed through Chelsea Market, and ended up at The Standard Biergarten. After hanging out there for little while, we headed back to the apartment to get ready for the night. We met up with two of our friends from UGA and went to a super fun dinner at Miss Lily's, which is a Jamaican restaurant in East Village. Afterwards we ended the night at
Up&Down nightclub.

Sunday morning we
overslept slept in and headed to brunch at
The Little Owl. Known for it's frequent appearance on Friends, this quaint and TINY restaurant did not disappoint. Afterwards, we continued walking around and ended up feeling energized and took a class at Soul Cycle. I am so anxiously hoping that Soul Cycle makes it's way to Atlanta! I loved the upbeat energy and rhythm of the class.
Sunday was topped off with dinner at The Smile and drinks at
The Happiest Hour. I LOVED this bar so much!
We had an early wake up call Monday morning as our ambition got the best of us and we decided to go to The Today Show. Not to mention this was by far the chilliest day. However, it was so much fun and we definitely got a few minutes of screen time!
When we finally had enough (aka had to use the restroom and were starving/freezing), we went to
Bluestone Lane for some coffee and the BEST avocado toast. Then, we shopped around SOHO, where we met up with my friend Jessica. Ellie's sister and her husband got back in town that night so we went to dinner together at
Charlie Bird. Afterwards Ellie and I had reservations at The Comedy Cellar, which I HIGHLY recommend. The comedians were hilarious and Kevin Hart even made a guest appearance.
Tuesday was our last day, and we saved the absolute best plans for last. One of my student's moms told me about
Aire Ancient Baths, which is an Ancient Greek/Roman-inspired spa in Tribeca. There are many treatments you can choose from, but their main feature is the six different baths you can relax in prior to your service. They include an ice pool, cold pool, warm pool, hot pool, propeller-jet bath, and salt-water pool. After the baths and massages we were feeling relaxed to travel back to Atlanta!
Before our departure, we met up with Ellie's sister for one last meal in NYC. We went to
The Butcher's Daughter, which is the CUTEST little vegetarian restaurant. It was so hard to choose what to order, so I definitely have to come back.
It was the absolute best trip, with just enough set plans to allow us to explore and do our own thing as well. Every time I go to New York I am amazed at the energy and love trying new restaurants, so I can't wait to go back!
