Hilton Head 2023

Last week we once again had an awesome family vacation to Hilton Head Island! The Friday before, Charles and I had a going away party for our friends Bianca and Nate, so we drove separately and stopped in Augusta on the way down to grab lunch with his parents at Lazizas. We did not arrive until early Saturday evening, so we got settled, walked on the beach to enjoy the sunset, and then some of us ordered take-out from Salty Dog for dinner.

The next day, the boys golfed super early while the girls (and little boys) hung around working on the James Bond puzzle and visiting Salty Dog for ice cream until they got back. Once they did, we had a beach day (with on-and-off rain) and then ordered Jake's pizza. The Averys finally arrived that evening, and we hung out for a bit before calling it a night.

The next morning, the whole crew biked to Harbour Town. We shopped around and then booked it back before it started sprinkling. Once the weather cleared up and the tide went back down, we hung on the beach and then got ready for a later dinner at Nectar. It was not as impressive as we remembered from last year and there were some menu changes, so we are not dying to go back. The Averys decided to go there for an earlier dinner, so we reconvened afterward and played families, which was a huge hit for the kiddos!

Tuesday was mom's birthday, which we started off with a long walk down the beach. Then, we enjoyed more beach time and Salty Dog ice cream. From there, we got ready and went to an early dinner at Coast! We always love the laid-back vibe there and the live music is an added bonus! After dinner, we headed back to the house for cake (and a tequila shot!), which the Turners joined us for. Then a few of us played more families!

The next day, Charles, Sam, Sarah, the kids, and me all biked to Harbour Town and climbed to the top of the lighthouse. The Averys decided to go to South Beach for the day to have more waves, so we enjoyed our beach time and day drinking while the boys played an afternoon round of golf. Then, we grilled out at Ben's house and ended the night with Five Crowns with just me, mom, and Charles.

Thursday was a great, long beach day. Charles had gone to do CrossFit with his friend, but we soaked up as much time on the water before getting ready for date night. We grabbed drinks (and tequila shots of course!) and enjoyed live music at Quarterdeck before heading to dinner at Links, which got a little hazy for me! Afterward, we played Five Crowns at the house.

Charles ended up leaving Friday morning to head back and help get things ready for our engagement party the next day. We couldn't have asked for a better last day on the beach, so we soaked that up for a while. Then, I decided to get a pedicure while Sarah and Sam took the boys putt-putting and Mom took Caroline to ride the horse. Afterward, I grabbed dinner at Holy Tequila with just the Pittards while the others went to Chowdaddy's. We then tidied up the house so we head to Augusta bright and early the next day!!

We left HHI around 8:30 and arrived in Augusta around 11:30. We headed straight to Surrey Center so we could do some shopping and my registry at Design Images while Charles finished up golfing with some of his groomsmen. We met back up at Catina for lunch and then headed to his parent's house to visit. We were leisurely hanging out when I suddenly realized the dress I planned to wear for the party got ruined by a spill in my bag. Mom, Sarah, me, and the Pittard boys headed back to Surrey Center and frantically shopped for a new outfit before the shops closed. What was a very stressful moment turned into a funny story, and I ended up loving what I wore!! We got ready at the Partridge Inn and then headed to the Malchows for the most beautiful and special evening with some of our favorite family members and friends. It was so sweet to see people who traveled quite a long way to celebrate us, and I had the best time kicking off the festivities! The evening definitely went by too quickly, but a few of us luckily extended the night at Indian Queen (back to where Charles and I first met!!). We had too much fun and weren't feeling too hot the next day.

For my hostess gifts, I had brought back some loose tea from Oxford, England, which I stuffed in my suitcase after my vacation this summer! I loved how these simple yet adorable gifts turned out, and I love that I gave the hosts something that Charles and I love!

The next day, my parents, Charles, and me headed back to the Walkers for breakfast and time to visit with the kiddos. Charles and I decided to stay for the majority of the day so we could spend time with Greyson, Marshall, and the kids, but mainly because we were too tired to drive home! It was the best weekend and got me so excited for our big day!

Counting down to January 20th and our next beach trip!
