Connecticut Road Trip

The other weekend Charles and I went on an adventure to do a favor for an old Trinity family of mine. We agreed to drive their dog and two cats from Atlanta to Groton, Connecticut. While we initially were kind of dreading the drive, it was well worth it once we saw the views and got the royal treatment! We woke up bright and early and hit the road around 4:30. I did most of the driving, but Charles helped break it up by taking over a few times. The drive took us through South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland for a brief second, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and finally Connecticut!! We stopped for lunch at Qdoba and to use the restroom a few times which overall put us at 16 hours in the car. Once we arrived, we picked up takeout from Olio and had a glass of wine with the Jacksons before calling it a night.

We woke up to the most gorgeous view of the water from our room. We had a quick breakfast and immediately got ready to take the boat out to Block Island, Rhode Island, which is south of Martha's Vineyard. It was so fun seeing Fisher's Island and Taylor Swift's house on Watch Hill on our way over! Once we got there, we walked to the Beach Club for some lunch. Then, the rest of the group went to the pier while Charles and I checked out the Spring House hotel. We met back up and had a drink at Mahogany Shoals before heading back to the house for dinner. We fished on our way back and cooked the flounder for an appetizer! We had steaks and salad and drank wine while hanging out outside. 

We soaked up our last day by taking a walk around Groton and then boating over to Watch Hill Rhode Island, where we enjoyed some time on the beach before grabbing lunch at Ten Sandwiches. Then, we headed back and Charles and I Ubered to the airport!

Even though it was a quick visit, I loved seeing some parts of New England and can't wait to go back one day!
