Spring Break Recap

Spring break 2022 started off with a trip to Charleston for Caroline and Jim's wedding. We left late Friday morning and arrived at Kim's with just enough time to get ready, grab a drink at The Vendue Rooftop with Bob and Melissa, and head to the rehearsal dinner. The dinner was the craziest thing I have ever seen since every guest was invited to both events. Many people gave toasts to the happy couple before we got a nightcap at Bumpa's with Bob and Melissa.

I was not feeling too hot Saturday morning, so Charles and I went downtown to grab breakfast (and a sprite!) at Poogan's Porch before meeting up with the rest of our group at Hometeam for a casual lunch. From there, we headed back to the house to get ready for the wedding! Charles and I were able to squeeze in a drink at The Citrus Club before the ceremony, which offered an amazing view from the rooftop of The Dewberry Hotel. Everyone called it a night after the send-off, which was a good idea all around!

Sunday morning, Charles and I passed the time before lunch by driving over to Mount Pleasant to shop around. We also drove along The Battery to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery. From there, we met up with Melissa, Bob, Megan, and Ryan at Leon's Oyster Shop before heading back to Georgia. We decided to make a pit stop in Augusta and spend the night with his parents before finishing the drive back to Atlanta.

I enjoyed two days of R&R before getting ready for our ski trip to Lake Tahoe! We flew out early Wednesday morning and arrived just before noon. We changed our plans a bit and decided to head straight to the Ritz after a quick pit-stop at In-N-Out Burger, of course! While we waited for our room to be ready, we checked out the property, got fitted for our ski gear, and chatted by the fire in the lobby. After we got settled, we took the gondola to Northstar Village for a fun dinner at Petra. We were surprised that the town was so quiet but appreciated the slow pace as we explored!

Being stuck on Eastern time, we all woke up bright and early and decided to drive to King's Beach to grab coffee and see the lake. Once the lifts opened, Sarah, Sam, and I headed to the slopes while Charles soaked up all the hotel had to offer. We joined him for a lunch break at the BBQ restaurant on the property before skiing for a few more hours. Afterward, we played King's Crown in the lobby, got ready, and took the shuttle to Truckee for a drink at Bar of America and a fantastic dinner at Moody's! This spot was so fun, and the food was amazing. It turned into a funny story as we rushed to make the 8:30 ride home instead of having to wait until 9:30. We planned to roast smores and hang in the lobby but ended up calling it an early night.

The following day we grabbed coffee and breakfast at Cafe Blue in our hotel before another day of skiing. We enjoyed some leftovers for lunch, and then Charles and I got ready for our snowmobile tour! We had the best time and were glad he could enjoy the scenery without being able to ski. Towards the end of our tour, two group members got in an accident, which pushed us back a bit on timing. We quickly regrouped at the hotel to head to Incline Village in time to see the sunset. Once we got there, we grabbed a drink at the Hyatt until our table at Lone Eagle Grille was ready. Everyone was blown away by this restaurant! The food was delicious, and we left with (too) full bellies.

For our last full day, we decided to take an impromptu trip over to Napa! We left bright and early to hit the first winery at 10:15. We went to Grgich Hills, made a pitstop at Oakville Grocery for a sandwich, headed to Rombauer for our next tasting, and ended at Hall Winery. We had a little more time to spare, so we stopped by Stewart Tasting Room for some rose before getting drinks and fries at Auberge du Soleil. Once we were finished, we drove back to Sacramento to check in to The Citizen Hotel and have a quick dinner at Mayahuel. Sacramento was very underwhelming, but we enjoyed this dinner. We grabbed a quick breakfast at Bacon and Butter before heading to the airport!

This trip was so good for the soul. It was nice spending quality time with family and checking out a bucket list spot!
