Weekend Rewind

This weekend I traveled to Lexington, KY for my first half marathon! Running a half marathon has always been on my bucket list, and it was so special to check it off in the home state of my extended family. After traveling through lots of unexpected traffic, we finally arrived at Keeneland Friday evening just in time to pick up our race packets and walk around the Expo. Afterwards, my mom and I met my brother and his family for a late dinner at Carson's Food & Drink. From the baked goat cheese appetizer to the best veggie burger and delicious cocktails (I had to double fist at one point because my sweet sister sent me a "good luck" drink all the way from Georgia), this restaurant was amazing! From dinner we headed to Griffin Gate to check in and rest up for the big day!

We woke up early Saturday morning to prep for race day! We headed to the course bright and early and took advantage of some photo ops before making our way to the starting line! Despite the light rain and hilly course, the scenery was pretty hard to beat! I am so glad I committed to this accomplishment and can cross it off of my bucket list!

After enjoying the free goodies and refueling at Bru Burger, we headed to Uncle Steve's farm in Nicholasville. The kids had the best time seeing all of the mares and foals!

We wrapped up our trip with dinner at Joe Balogna's with my cousin Tory's family and Uncle Vic! It was the best weekend continuing to make memories in a place that means so much to our family.
